About Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge

  • Close Panel

Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge, which opened in 2007,  is an intimate lodge offering modern comforts and amenties deep in the heart of the unspoilt Amazon rainforest. Anavilhanas Biological Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and covers some 90 kilometres of native forest, 400 islands, numerous lakes and rivers. The animal and plant life are rich and abundant and include monkeys, caiman, dolphins, parrots, macaws and butterflies. This is a nature lover's paradise and is just 125 miles from Manaus.

The lodge has 16 individual cottages linked to the communal areas by a series of walkways. The cottages are constructed of wood and straw and contain comfortable beds and modern tiled bathrooms with hot and cold running water. They have attractive tropical wood panelling and are air conditioned and have their own fridge. Each cottage has a porch area where guests can relax in private.

The restaurant serves both classical traditional dishes and international cuisine. Meals are complemented by fresh fruit juices and a selection of fine wines. Guests dine surrounded by lush forest. There is a spacious bar and reception area, ideal for a pre or post dinner drink and a chat over the day's events with fellow guests. The bar serves sandwiches as well as range of soft and alcoholic drinks. This is a relaxing place, where guests can browse through a selection of books or play a game of pool. There is also a small floating deck, with closer views of the river. The swimming pool is surrounded by a wooden deck with sun loungers and looks out over the Rio Negro, perfect for relaxing between activities.

The rainforest is the highlight of a stay here and Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge organises a variety of activities to enable guests to explore this unique region. Take a canoe ride into the maze of islands and lakes in sturdy wooden canoes designed for stability and comfort. In the wet season vast forest areas are flooded and canoe is the best way to see the reserve. Enjoy a guided nature walk through the forest and learn about the flora and fauna from your experienced local guide. Other activities include local village visits, piranha fishing and night searches for caiman. In the dry season it is also possible to visit river beaches and sandbanks.

Anavilhanas is designed to blend into its natural setting and has a high level of environmental awareness. It complies with the principles of sustainability in its daily operation and has been designed so as to have minimal impact on the environment. Guests are priviledged to be able to explore this supremely unspoilt area and are ensured of many happy and precious memories.

Pricing guidelines for Brazil

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Brazil combines with Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands due to scheduled flights, so, for example, it makes a good beach stop after Peru or Ecuador.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
