About Ingapirca

  • Close Panel

At Ingapirca, north of Cuenca, you can explore Incan history at this, Ecuador’s most famous set of Inca ruins. Ingapirca means ‘stone wall’ and it is an archaeological site with an Inca monument in the form of a unique elliptical-shaped temple. The complex was built up on top of Cañari ruins 500 years ago, and it is thought to have housed soldiers stationed at this strategic site between Quito and Cusco.
