Alternative Cape Town

See both sides of life in Cape Town so that you come away with a real feeling of what this amazing town is all about.

The urban trail takes you to Oude Molen Village which demonstrates how under-utilised public assets (land and buildings) can be used in an integrated way to provide business and employment opportunities. The Tsoga Environmental Centre works closely with local community on issues such as littering, food gardening and greening of parks. At Victoria Mxenge see the homes that were designed and built through the energy of women who saved money and went to trade school and acquired skills.

The Northern Trail takes you to Golden Flowers, a one-one success story, where beautiful flowers are made from empty tin cans and is now fully self-dependant. At Abalimi Bezekhay they teach people to grow their own food and supply them with trees and shrubs to green their areas. A peace park that unites the people of Khayelitsha. Lwandle Migrant Labour Museum was the first in SA to tell the story of life under the migrant labour Laws of the past, and the hope of a better life is evident in your walking tour of this interesting township. Buy crafts and taste local beer called ‘umqombothi’.

Pricing guidelines for South Africa

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). South Africa combines well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
