About Crocodile River Camp

  • Close Panel

Crocodile River Camp is one of two small and exclusive bush camps in South Luangwa, which together form Chikoko Trails. These camps are only accessible on foot and offer a unique bush experience. They are ideal for clients who are keen to get away from the restrictions and inactivity of game drives. The experience of being on foot in these isolated and natural surroundings cannot be beaten. Guests are well looked after here and full support is provided with an experienced walking guide, armed National Park scout and chef as well as a genral camp staff.

Crocodile River Camp has 3 chalets imaginatively constructed of thatch and natural materials –delightfully simple, perfectly comfortable. It rests beneath a grove of magnificent ebony trees, overlooking a dambo and the action of a day in the surrounding area. A stay at Crocodile River Camp combines well with a stay at its sister camp, Chikoko Tree Camp and at the main Tafika Camp.

The walking safaris usually last a leisurely 3-4 hours. As well as the guide and scout, the group is accompanied by a tea bearer. The terrain is mostly flat but occasionally uneven. These walking safaris are not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
